Tunings

There is more than one way to tune a megatar.

We offer several tunings. We recommend Tuning as Standard Bass, because it is, in our opinion, simpler, much easier to learn, and more powerful than other tunings. But, as always, the choice is yours ...

• Tune as STANDARD BASS
  Tuning the bass strings identically to a standard six-string bass is straight-forward and clear, and promotes rapid learning. Plus any skill you have already developed on bass, guitar, or keyboard transfers quickly. We call this tuning ‘BassBottom.’
   
• Tune as CHAPMAN STICK
  If you have already learned the ‘Inverted Fifths’ tuning developed by Emmett Chapman for the Chapman Stick, then we can deliver this tuning, and it has the enhanced Buzz Feiten Intonation System installed so that your playing sounds more ‘in tune’ than other tapping instruments.
   
• Tune as CUSTOM TUNING
  Many tunings are available - Bi-Melody, Dual Bass, Crafty, dropped, and ‘mirrored’ tunings, plus the ‘Uncrossed’ string arrangement, and a few others, all available as custom tunings.

  Here we simply spell out the gauges that are used to deliver the various tunings.
