Fabrizio Fabiani plays theToneWeaver Onyx with Bartolini dual active-circuit preamps, to combine the depth and clarity of Novak fanned-frets with Bartolini active pickups.

Fabrizio Fabiani, born 1962, is a professional musician and teacher of electric bass. He studied double bass at the Conservatoire G.B Martini of Cesena (now called B. Maderna). During this period he played bass in a number of Italian orchestras, including Castellina Pasi, Borghesi, Nicolucci, and Nuovi Angeli, and he recorded several albums as session man for these orchestras.

From 1993 to 1997, Fabiani played in jazz trios and quartets, and toured with the Moon Chin Orchestra, directed by Fausto Rinaldi, throughout Italy, Great Britain, Canada, and the United States.

In recent years, Fabiani has been playing with a jazz-fusion trio (guitar, bass and drums), and as a session man in Italian recording studios. He is an ardent teacher of bass, and many of his students have become professional bass players. Although Fabiani had never previously played using the Two-Handed Touch-Style method, he found the technique easy to learn, and sent us the following Jazz Standard recordings after only a short time. He's clearly enjoying the instrument, and it suits him well!

Here's what he had to say --

"I received my ToneWeaver two months ago. When I opened the package to check whether everything was OK, I was really astonished. I wasn't able to stop looking at it. I supposed it would be beautiful, but I never thought it would be so perfect and well made!

"This instrument is really wonderful, and it gives me the opportunity to explore and discover new sounds, new melodies and new harmonies. It's magic!

"Its sound is really clear and strong. I've never owned before an instrument that can play so many different roles in an ensemble: it could be a rhythmic or a melodic or a harmonic instrument, or everything at the same time.

"Moreover, I can use everything I've already studied on the bass! I am really satisfied with this instrument. Once again I thank you very much."
