John Bailey has been a musician for 45 years, and the last 30 years as a professional guitarist. But two years ago, John suffered a stroke which left him without the use of his right arm. "I was very impressed by the finish. This is a no-nonsense instrument. In its deliberately plain dressing and carefully constructed assembly it is quite impressive. I stood for a few moments admiring it. Actually, it looked sort of 'regal'.
"But now came the test! Can I play it? I plugged it in, touched up the tuning, and then placed the fingers of my left hand on the melody strings and fingered a few notes. And it just played! Almost by itself!
"I spent the first hour just indulging myself. The guitar simply made me feel good! And after thinking I could never play guitar again, here I was, sitting on the couch, playing my heart out! The sustain is awesome, and it is surprisingly easy to play. That day, I played for four hours non-stop.
"The tone of this instrument is full and earthy over the whole fretboard, and perfectly in tune no matter where you play. The strings are so low they're almost touching the frets. All you do is lightly touch a string and it responds with a clear, bell-like tone. That tone, coupled with the Bartolini active pickups, can really make heads turn.
