The People who created Mobius Megatar
The people who have contributed to the design of Mobius Megatar basses, and those who operate the Mobius Megatar organization are musicians, engineers, and guitar-builders. Here are short bios of some of the founders, staff, and consultants who have been instrumental in bringing these basses into the world --
HENRI DuPONT In many ways the Mobius line of instruments was DuPont's brainchild. Classically trained, he performs regularly in South America, the Far East, and occasionally in other parts of the world. Something of an eccentric, a brilliant but reclusive player who shuns publicity, and who has (as far as we know) never recorded.
MYRON EDWARDS Operates 'Orphic Touch-Style Music' in Great Britain, which imports and distributes Mobius instruments into Great Britain and Europe. A musician in the bands 'Strund' and 'The Directors', and contributor to the ongoing ballet project 'The Third Policeman.'
BUZZ FEITEN As a 15-year old guitarist playing Woodstock with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Feiten was a wow, and he's since spent a career touring and recording with some of the biggest names in music. And now his amazing 'Intonation System' rides on the best guitars and basses in the world, including Mobius Megatar basses.
RALPH NOVAK Legendary Bay Area luthier Novack is the inventor of Fanned-Frets, a way to enhance tone in a guitar or bass or megatar by lengthening the low-pitched strings and shortening the high-pitched strings.
BRUCE SEXAUER The primary designer of the body and neck shapes used in the Mobius Megatar Touch-Style Bass, Sexauer is a bassist and a widely respected luthier with a keen eye for aesthetic shapes.
- REG THOMPSON
Retiring and now retired, Thompson was one of the founders of Mobius Megatar, Ltd. An ex RAF officer, Colonel Thompson has an engineering background, but claims he is not a musician! Says he cannot play a note (but maintains a very nice grand piano in his Caribbean home).
TRAKTOR TOPAZ The US manager for Mobius Megatar, Topaz has his own site dedicated to Touch-Style music, located at www.traktortopaz.com . In addition to working on websites, he's the main editor for the MegaTapper News, the free newsletter published by Mobius in both print and email versions. (You can request a free newsletter subscription elsewhere on this site under the 'Newsletter' button.)
