From Mobius to you in 2002 --
** Win a TrueTapper "Eclipse" touch-style bass!

How would you like to be the winner of a new 12-string tapping instrument? Complete with tone controls, Feiten Intonation system, stereo cord, a choice of tunings, and a quality gigbag?

Absolutely Free!
Your chances are unusually good, and it costs nothing to enter, no purchase required.

1st Prize - the 'Eclipse' Bass
Our grand prize! A new model, the TrueTapper 'Eclipse' Touch-Style instrument is crafted with superior design to give superior sound, equipped with dual-rail pickups to give a powerful and clear sound, nested tone and volume controls, and your choice of Creme (shown) or Black pickguard. Also included: adjustable strap, stereo output cord, method book, and quality gigbag. Wow!

If you are new to two-handed tapping, you will find this a perfect instrument to venture into this vast new world of music. Given the proper method, an experienced bass player or guitar player can usually be playing basslines and simultaneous rhythmic chords within one day. Beginners also find it easy to bring piano-like two handed technique into play. The instruments rides in a comfortable upright position, just perfect to allow your hands to fall naturally on the wide fretboard playing surface, because of our unique 'MegStrap' (included). The surprisingly easy method is detailed in full in our new method book "Easy Touch-Style Bassics" (included).

Somebody is going to win this beautiful instrument, and spend many years enjoying this new method of play and the superior tone provided by the superior design crafted into the TrueTapper Eclipse.

Easy to Enter
Just write or email us with your name, postal mailing address, and phone. That's all it takes to enter!

Add your email address and you'll be entered into the contest twice - so you'd be twice as likely to win!

Want Extra Chances? Here's How to get Six More Entries ...
On our website's documents section you'll find the 'Song Archive' where we've recorded six songs to show off the instruments. Each song has a 'temporary' title, but we're not too happy with these titles.

That's where you come in ...

Name Those Tunes!
These six songs are original, so your challenge is to make up some original names! For each song, make up a new title, along with a comment of why it seems like a good title. Please include the comment! You may submit only one title per song, but for each title you send in, we'll enter your name again for the drawing! Only a maximum of six titles, with comments please!

Hear the songs in the "Song Archive" at -

Up to Eight Chances to Win!
This offer is not going out to thousands and thousands of people. This is a fairly small mailing, so your odds are better than most contests. Probably better than any contest you've ever entered before.

Plus, add your email address to your mailing address for a second chance, and then get up to six more chances for submitting titles (with comments) for our recorded songs - eight chances in all!

Somebody is going to win; it might as well be you!

Questions and Answers

Q: You Mobius guys already have my address so I'm already entered, right?
A: Nope. You are not entered unless you enter. That means sending us a letter or email or using the form below and giving us your address and phone (and if you want extra chances to win, your email address and some song titles and comments). We are *not* going to automatically enter everybody. Some folks won't enter. So they won't win, and that helps *your* chance of winning! The moral of this story is that you must enter if you want to win.

Q: If I win the TrueTapper Eclipse, and I want some other model, can I upgrade?
A: Yes, you may upgrade to another model by submitting the difference in list price between the two. That means, for example, that if you win and you'd like to upgrade to the TrueTapper 'Dragon', you could do so for only $200. Upgrading to the 'Storm' model would require $400.

Q: What if I just want to send my email address, and no address or phone?
A: Sorry, contest rules say you can enter with your valid postal address and phone, and then get extra chances by sending your email address and song titles and comments. If you don't submit your valid postal address and telephone number, you will not be entered in the contest at all!

Q: Can anyone apply?
A: Employees, consultants, and vendors of Mobius Megatar are ineligible from entering the contest. Otherwise, any musician with a sincere interest in playing touch-style music may apply. We limit entry to people with a sincere interest in playing touch-style because we want the TrueTapper Eclipse to go to somebody who will play it!

Q: How will the drawing be held?
A: All names and addresses will be entered into a database, and every entry will receive a free subsciption to the MegaTapper News, just to say thanks for entering. Each person who has entered will have a special field with a number showing how many chances they have. For example, if you've entered by sending your name and address and phone, plus got another chance by sending your email address, and you've submitted four song titles with comments to get four more chances, then you will have six chances, so your record will contain the number six. Another guy who has only sent in his name and address and phone will only have a one in his record. When the entries are complete, random computer selection will be made to generate a list of names. Extra names will be generated in case some winners do not claim their prizes within the required time period. Prizes will be awarded from the generated list. All prizes will be awarded.

Q: Can I enter more than once?
A: Sorry, you may only enter once, using your legal name and address and phone, which will be verified when you win. This contest is only open to musicians sincerely interested in two-handed tapping, also called the touch-style method of playing music.

Q: Will my private information be sold or made available?
A: No, we plan to publish a list of who won (and for the grand prize winner we'd like to have a photo and a statement about how it feels to win), but addresses and phones and other information will not be published. Your private information will be held secure, and neither sold nor made available to any outside party. We will use the information to give everyone a free subscription to the MegaTapper Newsletter (if you don't already get it) to say thanks for entering the contest, and we will use the information to select the winners and award and deliver the prizes, but the information will be used for nothing else and will be kept private.

Q: How will I know when I've won?
A: You will receive a certified letter at your valid postal address, and you must respond to that letter within a time period. If you do not respond within the time period, the prize is forfeited and will go to the next name drawn from the list of folks who entered the contest. Your identity will be confirmed before the prize is awarded. So if you were thinking of entering as 'Dr Hootowl', unless you've got a drivers license that reads that way, it would be much wiser to enter your true name!

Q: Do I have to buy anything or do anything?
A: No purchase is required. We ask only that you are sincere in your interest in touch-style music to enter the contest. If you win the grand prize, we will ask you for a photo and a statement of how you feel about winning. By entering this contest you agree that you may be listed as a contest winner, and that if you win the grand prize you will provide us with a photo and a statement about your prize which we can use in future publicity.

Q: What are my odds of winning?
A: Unusually good. In fact, your odds of winning this contest are probably better than any other contest you've ever entered in your life. This is a small mailing, not like those magazine contests which send mail to a huge number of folks. Your odds are unusually good in this contest. Plus, everybody who enters gets a free subscription to the MegaTapper News, and so everybody wins something!

If you'd like to check out our lineup of instruments, here it is --

TrueTapper "Eclipse" -- $ 995
World's best touch-style value, Eclipse is crafted with superior design for superior sound. Blonde maple neck and fingerboard on alder body give bright and clear tone with long sustain, with dual trussrods and fully-adjustable bridge to provide a smooth playing surface. Complete string set - six bass and six harmony strings. Clear and powerful toned TrueTalker pickup array of 'dual-rail' design with dual nested tone and volume controls. Your choice of Crème or Black pickguard. All TrueTapper models include adjustable strap, method book, stereo output cord, & quality gigbag.

TrueTapper "Dragon" -- $ 1195
Warmly exotic, Dragon has pickups of our "TwoGold" design, giving you matched gold-case, wide-coil pickups with adjustable pole pieces for precise adjustment of each string's sound. The TwoGold pickup array creates a warm, mellow, and rich tone. Black pickguard.

TrueTapper "Storm" -- $ 1395
Atmospheric disturbance. To the inherent clean tone of TrueTapper's maple and alder woods, Storm adds powerful Bartolini Pickups. Bartolini's legendary tone yields a surprising clarity, with more of the thundering bass you crave, and a lightning clarity of melody expression. Magnificent.

MaxTapper "Dual" -- $ 1695
MaxTapper "Quad" -- $1995

The professional choice for warm tone, the Bartolini-equipped MaxTapper is crafted of premium dark woods for a warm sound, and also boasts factory-installed 'Graph Tech' nut and saddle package for enhanced brilliance and sustain. Normally comes with 'String Saver' (charcoal colored) nut and saddles for increased sustain and staying in tune longer during the gig, but you may also choose 'Tusq' (ivory colored) nut and saddles for blonde brilliance and enhanced sustain. Legendary Bartolini pickups for rich and dark bass, and surprisingly clear high melody. 'Quad' model has four switch-selectable pickups, two for bass and two for melody. MaxTapper models come with strap, method book, premium output cord, plus Schaller Security Strap Locks and custom-built TKL 'FliteLite' hardcase to protect your professional instrument.

ToneWeaver "Dual" -- $2095
ToneWeaver "Quad" -- $2395

Fanned Frets for Tone Power! The dark beauty and smooth tone of a four-part mahogany neck with rich rosewood fretboard, and a matching-tone body of sapele (also known as African Mahogany), the ToneWeaver "Dual" sports two Bartolini pickups and the "Quad" has four switch-selectable Bartolin pickups for unsurpassed deep bass and sweet singing clear melody. ToneWeaver is built with Ralph Novak's patented 'Fanned-Fret' system, so that your lowest bass strings are longer and lower, and your higher melody strings are shorter and sweeter. No other instrument can match the clarity and depth of this architecture. Our custom 'Twelve-Tone' bridge with twelve separate bridge plates helps each string sound strong and clear. Comes with strap, method book, premium cord, plus jet black Schaller Security Strap Locks and custom TKL FliteLite hardcase. Masterful instrument, masterful sound.

MidiTapper "Solo" -- $1695
MidiTapper "Twin" -- $1995

A Mobius Exclusive: To our TrueTapper Eclipse Model, with it's powerful and clear tone, we've added the LightBridge Photon Midi pickup array, which uses light itself to drive modern synthesizers. Tracks at the speed of light! The MidiTapper 'Solo' comes with six bass strings as usual, delivered up by a powerful 'dual-rail' magnetic, and includes our wide-range tone controls. The six melody strings have both the magnetic dual-rail pickup, and also the Photon-Midi output to drive either the Roland GR33 synthesizer unit or the Roland VG88 V-Guitar system. The 'Twin' comes with two sets of melody strings, normally tuned in our 'Bi-Melody' tuning so that all the notes fall in the same position as your instruments with normal bass strings. Both the 'Lo-Melody' strings and the 'Hi-Melody' strings have a Photon Midi output, and of course you get synth volume controls and control switches on the face of the instrument easily accessable with either hand. (Hint: want to play bass on your 'Bi-Melody' tuned instrument? Just choose one of the many wonderous bass patches on the GR33 synthesizer or the VG88 V-Guitar system and blast off!) Your MidiTapper can be played through any amplifier using the dual magnetic dual rail pickups ... but then switch on the drums and saxophones, strings and chimes, fifes and bugles, accordions and violins, pianos and outer space! (Roland GR33 synth and Roland VG88 V-Guitar system available separately.)

All Instruments
include stereo output cord, the unique MegStrap, "Easy Touch-Style Bassics" method book, and Buzz Feiten Intonation system installed so it plays in tune all over the neck. TrueTapper models include Mobius quality gigbag. MaxTapper and ToneWeaver models include Schaller Security Strap Locks installed, and custom TKL hardcase. All instruments receive one year warranty on parts and labor, and your Guarantee of Satisfaction - if not delighted, return within one week in new condition for immediate refund of purchase price. Music Lessons in method books and newsletters produced by Mobius Megatar convey musical information about the 'touch-style' method of two-handed tapping for playing electric guitars and electric basses, originally invented in the 1950's by Jimmie Webster and Dave Bunker, and refined by many musicians ever since. See 'History of Touch-Style' on our website for more information. Method books and newsletters produced by Mobius Megatar convey musical instruction which is applicable to two-handed tapping on multi-stringed guitars and basses, and on megatars (instruments containing a set of strings for bass and a set of strings for melody) tuned in fourths, and for megatars whose bass is tuned in inverted fifths.
